A warm welcome . Rooms are very clean and tidy. Heaters and parking space plenty. Reasonably large sized rooms. Kitchen and dining facilities are superb. Location is also quite good. Easy walkable distance from train station.
Actually we were struggling for 15 minutes in the same location to find because there was not any big boards which says stirling youth hostel.
there wasn't atmospehere of typical youth hostels, it's rather for people over 35
It was a great place to catch a nice night's kip, and the staff made it warm a d welcoming. An ideal location in Stirling. I would have rated higher, but granted the low price you certainly get what you paid for.0
Sadly no towels, but it is to be expected at £18 a night.
It was close to the venues for the event we were attending but also the view from our room was stunning and the staff were most friendly and helpful.
The absence of a lift was a bit of an inconvenience but I realise it is probably a listed building so difficult to get planning permission.
The location but otherwise it was a poor experience
Extremely basic, at the basic end of the backpacker spectrum. Bunk beds with wooden bases and thin foam mattresses. very basic bathroom facilities. Couldn't find a power point in the room. Carpet stained and unpleasant.
Great location, close to Stirling castle and hostel is located right next door to the Stirling Old town Jail.
Not very modern, floors creak a lot all through hallways and bedrooms which is extremely noisy.
Easy access to all the sights in the town and to the bus/train station, shops.
Great location. Nice price. The staff was friendly.
Parking spaces were limited. We had to wait until next morning to find a parking space. Floors are squicking, furniture is old and the carpet not so clean. The staff was sometimes hard to find.
The staff were very friendly. it is an excellent location. Very close to all the shops, pubs, restaurants and the castle.
We stayed in a room for four and i was with 3 friends. The shower was behind a curtain rather than a door. Which was ok as we all knew each other. I wouldnt have liked it if i didnt know the other folk in the room.
Very calm, opportunities around the Stirling area were presented in booklets or other similar ways
Excellent kitchen & dining facilities, modern en suite rooms & helpful staff, & a bike store - fantastic for cyclists!
I have stayed at th e hostel over the last 8 years on several occasions with friends and find it very clean and large rooms. We come from N.Z and Australia, and sometimes work in U.K. so have a break in Scotland. Wouldnt think of g oing anywhere else for the money. Thankyou
The location was perfect! Very close to Sterling Castle and the view outside our window was fantastic! The facilities were great--T.V. Lounge room with computers, a large kitchen made easy to use, good breakfast served for a price, friendly staff. I highly recommend this for families with children.
The hallway outside smelled, the walls were thin and the floorboards in our room creaked horribly but for the price, location and view, it was worth it.
It was beautiful and the staff were lovely, and although I didn't get to know my room mates, they were sweet even after I came back around 1am and tried to get into bed quietly (they even offered me a light so I could see what I was doing). It was comforting to know it was in town and that we (me and my friend) could dump our belongings in our rooms and head down. The man at the office was very friendly and helpful and even helped us get an idea of bus routes and where to go, also he reassured us that it was okay to come back later than 11 (due to us being unsure of when our gig was going to finish).
If i'm being picky it took a while to fall asleep, but that was my only possible dislike, but I was more than greatful for having a bed to fall into at the end of the day. My friend had a minor problem with his room mates, but that was only due to the fact that at just before 7am they loudly started packing and had a boisturious phone call in the room, even though my friend was trying to get some sleep, so my friend didn't fall back to sleep after they left. (I feared to wake up or disturb my room mates so after unsuccessfully trying to quietly change and pack my belongings I just quickly stripped the bed, gathered my belongings and finished getting ready in my friend's empty room, so I do apologise if I ruined my room mates slumber). Other than that me and my friend greatly appriciated a bed to collapse in after a long day of travelling, and would most definitely consider staying again if we were to come back to Stirling (:.
Proximity to major attractions comes first in the list. We never missed not having a car. The hostel is situated up on the slope but with easy walking distances to almost everything including shopping, public transport and restaurants. Well equipped kitchen, clean atmosphere and staff ready to help are other key points. As a small instance, we wanted to store our stuff in the refrigerator but it was at least 15 minutes past the kitchen closure time. Still, the staff on duty made no fuss about it and helped us out by opening the kitchen for us. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone.
